These investors saw tremendous asset inflows in 2013 and far outpaced their hedge fund peers' performance in recent years. A structural shift in the corporate governance landscape has supported this trend, providing even smaller shareholders with an outlet to influence and be heard by management. We'll delve into the fine points of investor engagement and unlocking value with top players in the field. What's the outlook for activism, given the strategy's prevalence and the equity market's strong overall performance?

How to invest $25,000 is a common question I get. Investing twenty five thousand dollars can be a great opportunity. If investing in the stock market, do your research before deciding how to invest $25,000 you have to spare. This video should shed some light on how to invest twenty five thousand dollars. If you are looking to invest short term, or under two years, I recommend not investing at all or holding cash in savings or investing in a certificate of deposit. It may be difficult to find a short term certificate of deposit but some rate of return is better than nothing. If you are looking to invest mid term, or for two to five years, I recommend investing in a certificate of deposit or a mutual fund or index fund if market conditions are good. If you have any doubts involving a rec...

JUST LIKE THERE IS PROCESS TO BEING A WELL DEFINED ENTREPRENEUR, THERE IS A PROCESS AS WELL IN FITNESS. YOU HAVE TO STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE IN ORDER TO GROW. SHOW ME THE REAL GROWTH NOT THE PRETEND. watch all of my short motivational films HERE: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfA33-E9P7FAvnrOcgy4MvIcCXxoyjuku -- In the last sixteen months of my life, I've changed something major about myself: I've started being healthy. A year and a half ago, I was eating like crap, not working out, and generally feeling awful. It was a tough life, and I realized quickly that I couldn't sustain a life like that. It was impossible. So I hired a trainer to force me to be better. I made an enormous lifestyle shift, and I am so happy I did. But it made me realize something about the current state of fitness entrepreneurs. And I want to shine a light on it. Everybody defaults to what comes easy to them. That should be obvious. But greatness comes from adversity; it comes from looking a challenge directly in the eye and having the fortitude to step up and go after it. This is what's going on with the fitness want-repreneur world right now. Everyone is going for what is easy. And that isn't going to pan out if they are serious about becoming a business person. Just like I knew being a great business person wouldn't pan out if I didn't get healthy. Fitness entrepreneurs want to do the minimal work and still expect a huge return. It's easy for fitness entrepreneurs to do the push ups, to do the squats and deadlifts because that is exactly what got them to where they are now. They started in fitness and now they want to make money just by having those guns or that body. They default into what is easy without recognizing what is hard: running an actual business. You know what was hard for me? Waking up early. Not eating what I wanted to eat. Powering through workouts. Yet it was easy to build 50M dollar businesses. I wanted to pass off getting up and running. I wanted to pass off lifting, squatting, stretching. I didn't want to do it. But I had no problem working eighteen hours a day, taking meeting after meeting, and putting in the actual work. Fitness "entrepreneurs" want to pass on replying to tweets all day to get the word out. They want to pass off the marketing. They want to pass off working hard to create a great interesting post, or doing a bunch of podcasts to get a larger audience. They want to go straight for the mirror selfie so you can get a bunch of Instagram likes, then call that their "business". Well guess what? It's not good enough. I have sympathy for how long it can take for something to come together in a big way. I get thousands and thousands of emails a year from people saying they've been working for months at something and they aren't seeing results. It can be disheartening. In a weird way, working out has shown me that more than anything else. I've been working out for sixteen months now and I'm happy, but if you told me sixteen months ago that this what I would have by now, I might say "Ehhhh…" But the reverse is far worse. That's why I say to you: just start the work now. Do it. Work hard. Be diligent. Do not let up. You have the body. You have the chops. You did all that. Now get to the business side of things and grow that muscle too. MUSIC BY: https://soundcloud.com/deisel1time -- Gary Vaynerchuk builds businesses. #QOTD: Are you gonna take me up on my advice on replying to people on Instagram and using Twitter video? Or are you just gonna nod your head and move on and not do the tactics? #TIMESTAMPS 1:07 - I know you're not big on automation, but it's a reality. You're an advisor to HubSpot. Thoughts on that space? 4:44 - My computer is sitting in my lap and I'm reading twitter on my phone? Why, exactly? 5:55 - If you owned a CrossFit gym, how would you attack the marketplace? 8:59 - Why is it a crime to 'like' your own pictures on Instagram? Why will you be shunned for it? 9:49 - Do you still believe marketing is headed towards one on one marketing? #LINKS REASONS TO NEVER AUTOMATE https://www.garyvaynerchuk.com/never-automate-a-tweet-975978585.html RANT ON AUTOMATION https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLxqGB6of80 I think I need to clarify my POV on automation. So here I go. I don't like automation when it's replacing something that could and should be done by a human. For example, I don't like the idea of an automatic direct message that sends when you follow somebody, or somebody follows you. It feels very spammy. However, automation does some times make sense. We use it at Wine Library. When your order is confirmed, we send an email that says "Hey, your order is ready." There is a fine line between what one would quantify as the thing that a human should do and the thing a computer should do. When automation tries to take the place of a human, that is when things get weird. When you use a computer to automatically populate names into mass emails that are SUPPOSED to look personal, that's messed up. When you sign an automation with your own name as if you did, that is also messed up. To me, it all comes around to the intent of the automation. If you're trying to "trick" someone into thinking it's a person, that is where things get tricky. One would argue that automating makes for a lot of conversion. But for me, I think there is more value in someone reaching out personally. I don't want a computer to be responding to you as me. When I have free moments, I try to answer every email I get. Personally. So automation makes sense for a lot of things. But people are trying to use it to scale humans when there is a human element that matters. Ask yourself right now: does automation bug you when it tries to be human? The answer is YES. -- Gary Vaynerchuk builds businesses. Fresh out of college he took his family wine business and grew it from a $3M to a $60M business in just five years. Now he runs VaynerMedia, one of the world's hottest digital agencies. Along the way he became a prolific angel investor and venture capitalist, investing in companies like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Uber, and Birchbox before eventually co-founding VaynerRSE, a $25M angel fund. The #AskGaryVee Show is Gary's way of providing as much value value as possible by taking your questions about social media, entrepreneurship, startups, and family businesses and giving you his answers based on a lifetime of building successful, multi-million dollar companies. Shareholder activism has been gaining traction as key activist investors exert positive influence by pressing management teams to improve operational efficiency, invest capital in undervalued shares and pursue creative initiatives to maximize returns.

If you have any doubts involving a recession or poor economic conditions, avoid exposing yourself to the markets. If you are looking to invest mid to long term, or five to ten years, I recommend investing in a mutual fund or index fund or a stock portfolio. If you are looking to invest long term, or ten to fifteen years, I recommend investing in a stock portfolio, in mutual or index funds, in bonds or in real estate. If you are looking to invest very long term, or fifteen years or more, invest in a Roth IRA. Investing $25,000 In Stocks… If you are looking to invest in a stock portfolio, I recommend investing in a blend of growth and dividend or blue chip stocks. Here are a few examples of structures based on risk tolerance: Low Risk: 5 Blue Chip Stocks of different sectors Mild Risk: 10 to 20% Growth Stocks, 80 to 90% Blue Chips Medium Risk: 30 to 40% Growth Stocks, 60 to 70% Blue Chips Mid-High Risk: 50% Growth Stocks, 50% Blue Chips High Risk: Majority to all Growth Stocks Beyond this we enter what I call the “Stupid Risk” territory. This includes penny stocks, biotech or pharmaceutical companies, mining companies or having all your money in one stock. If you are looking for lower risk than stocks, invest in a mutual or index fund. If you are looking for lower risk than funds, invest in bonds or a CD. Starting A $25,000 Business... Here are a few businesses you could start for around $25,000: Low Cost Franchise Opportunity, Food Truck, Coffee Shop, Clothing Boutique, Pet Grooming, Professional Cleaning or a Small Fitness Studio. Investing $25,000 In Real Estate… If you are looking to invest in real estate, you could get a mortgage on a property and invest in direct ownership. A positive cash flow would result in money in your pocket each month and a break even cash flow builds free equity in an appreciable asset. Another option is a real estate investment group. In this scenario, investors pool money towards the purchase of a piece of real estate and a management company facilitates rent collection and property maintenance. The third way is to fund a real estate flip. Learn how to invest in the stock market... He gets asked about motivation all the time, and he doesn't know how to answer because motivation has never been one of his issues. He knows how it feels to be broke, scared, and have hi hopes-and-dreams collapse around him. Alpha never grew up around much money. His family was on welfare, and his earliest childhood memory was seeing burglar in his house. His family managed but eventually got divorced. He had two step-dads thereafter. One he blocked out, and one was emotionally abusive. His mother gave him a fitness membership at 13 years old which changed everything for him. He may have had a crappy home life but was at 'home' at the gym. At 13 years old, he realized that he wanted to be a gym owner. He went to college after high school. He got a business degree in order to be a gym owner. He moved to Atlanta, GA to open his business and got a job at Bally's where he met a guy who wanted to open a nutrition store with him. It was successful, but the guy took advantage of Alpha. At that point in his life, Alpha was unable to stand up for himself. He ended up getting help from a counselor who helped him find his value. He stopped second guessing his worth. They opened another nutrition store, but Alpha was very unhappy. Plus the guy was selling drugs out of the back. Alpha knew it was time to go. so he left to become a trainer. During this time, he met a girl who he helped to lose weight. They decided to open a gym together. He worked a ton but he loved it because he was in his element. They didn't make much money, but he was happy. He was doing something that he wanted to do from a young age. They created a new fitness concept that they wanted to franchise. They needed money and got investors and a bank loan. They put together a new location but ran out of money really quickly. Legal issues arose as well, and ultimately, they decided to shut down. Alpha took a job driving a beer cart on the weekends just to make ends meet. It was a humbling experience. It was the middle of the winter, a 30 year old guy, driving a beer cart in freezing temps. He was so scared. He didn't have anything to fall back on... no plan B. He didn't know what to do. His world had collapsed, and he was financially ruined. He decided he'd do whatever it took to be successful. If it wasn't for that moment, being down THAT low, that he may not have ever seen the moment to do something amazing. So when you see Alpha get emotional, it's because of how thankful he truly is. If you are struggling or feeling hopeless, keep working! It gets better. It gets incredible! Alpha wouldn't change anything that has happened to him. He would do it again. He feels that those times built him and give him appreciation. It will get better if you press forward and persevere. Everyday, he gets up and tried not to mess it up. If he can make it, so you can you!
